Matchy invests in matching, escrow, dispute handling, and platform safety. The non-circumvention rule keeps the marketplace sustainable — and protects both founders and developers from the risks of off-platform deals (no escrow, no recourse).
1. The rule
If you meet a founder or developer through Matchy, you agree not to transact with them off-platform — including direct bank transfers, alternate invoicing, or third-party freelance platforms — for the duration of the active engagement and for 6 months after final delivery (or after any Matchy-mediated dispute closes, whichever is later).
2. What counts as "meeting through Matchy"
- The other party appeared in your matches, browse results, or admin-mediated introduction on Matchy.
- You exchanged at least one message on the platform.
3. What's allowed
- Independently sourcing the same person via a public channel and documenting that source within 14 days of the first Matchy match. Email compliance@matchy.io.
- Hiring someone you genuinely knew before Matchy (with verifiable prior contact).
- Continuing a relationship through Matchy at standard commission.
4. Liquidated damages
Violation triggers a liquidated-damages payment equal to 2× the platform commission that would have applied to the off-platform engagement, with a minimum of ₹25,000. This is a pre-estimated, fair compensation — not a penalty — given the difficulty of proving exact damages.
5. How we detect
Matchy monitors patterns: sudden drop in project activity post-introduction, contact information exchange flagged in chat moderation, off-platform payment chatter. We investigate; we do not blindly punish.
6. Reporting
If a counterparty pressures you to go off-platform, report it confidentially to compliance@matchy.io. Reporters in good faith are never penalised; we may waive their commission on the next project as goodwill.
7. Account consequences
Repeated or egregious violations may result in account suspension and the developer being delisted from the marketplace.
